A battery suit filed against bar owner Gary Lutman and Knockers Bar and Grill is set for a case management conference.
Madison County Circuit Judge Andreas Matoesian is set to preside over the conference at 9 a.m. March 30.
Plaintiff Steven Skoklo is suing Lutman, his bar and National Laundry Equipment Corp. for damages in excess of $50,000 and costs per count of his 2009 complaint.
Skoklo is suing the defendants for injuries he claims to have suffered when he was injured after a fight broke out at Knockers bar in Collinsville in October 2007.
Skoklo claims that Lutman, the bar's owner, had a duty to keep the tavern in safe condition and that numerous fights and incidents had occurred at the bar prior to the night of the plaintiff's injuries.
National Laundry owned the building where the bar was located.
It had moved to dismiss the claims against it due to untimely service.
Matoesian denied the motion in January.
Lutman has been involved in a number of lawsuits filed in Madison County in the last decade.
Those suits include disputes with his ex-wife and business partner, Sherry Lutman and a complaint against the Maryville police department that included claims of false arrest.
Lutman currently has a legal malpractice suit pending against his former attorney John Leskera.
That 2011 suit is also set for case management Wednesday and Leskera's answer to it is due this coming week as well.
Gerald Sims represents National Laundry.
No attorneys are listed for Lutman and Knockers or fellow defendant Paul Qualls.
The case is Madison case number 09-L-1119.
