A Carbondale man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear ended the vehicle in which he was riding.
Matthew E. Sprong claims he was riding in a 1999 Mazda Prestige west on East University in Edwardsville when defendant Maggie K. Sheridan, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus in the same direction, rear-ended the vehicle in which he rode as it attempted to stop at a red light.
Because of the collision, Sprong suffered great bodily harm, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint filed Feb. 17 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Sheridan negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop for a red light, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, drove too fast and failed to take evasive action, the suit states.
In his complaint, Sprong is seeking an unspecified judgment in excess of the minimum limits of Madison County Circuit Court.
Louis L. Bertrand of Bertrand Law Office in LaSalle will be representing him.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-158.
