Clinton County accident is subject of St. Clair County suit

A man says he sustained a head injury and multiple abrasions after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection.

Ronald E. Cable Jr. filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Leslie A. Conley.

Cable claims he drove a 1998 Chevrolet east on Illinois Route 50 at its intersection with Crestview Lane in Clinton County on Jan. 11, 2009, at about 10 a.m. when Conley, who drove a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban north on Crestview Lane, failed to yield the right-of-way and struck him.

In addition to his head injuries and multiple abrasions, Cable has suffered a severe shock and injury to his entire nervous system, has suffered great bodily pain and disability and has lost large sums of money that would have otherwise accrued to him, according to the complaint. In addition, he incurred medical and surgical costs, the suit states.

Cable blames Conley for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to yield the right-of-way to his vehicle, disregarded traffic control devices at the intersection and failed to keep a proper lookout.

In his complaint, Cable seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Ralph J. Derango of Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-17.
