A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims failed to yield the right-of-way and struck his vehicle.
Richard Wille claims he was driving on Route 159 in Fairview Heights on Dec. 3, 2008, when defendant Zachry Shaffer, who drove on the same road, collided with him.
Because of the accident, Wille was hindered and prevented from attending to his usual duties, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money, according to the complaint filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Shaffer negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way to Wille's vehicle, drove too fast and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, the suit states.
In his complaint, Wille is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Joseph E. Hoefert of Alton will be representing him.
