A Madison County man claims his doctor and an Alton hospital failed to properly care for him after he allegedly suffered a heart attack while in their care.
Carl Anderson and his wife, Debra, filed a lawsuit against Alton Memorial Hospital, Dr. Patrick A. Masching and Legatus Emergency Services of Southern Illinois LLC on Dec. 22 in Madison County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, Anderson was in the care of Dr. Masching at Alton Memorial on Feb. 19 when he underwent an electrocardiogram exam for a second time. Anderson says Dr. Masching failed to recognize the signs of a myocardial infarction and neglected to act accordingly.
Anderson contends the doctor and hospital were negligent and provided insufficient medical care. His wife, Debra, is suing for loss of consortium. They are asking for more than $300,000 to compensate for injuries, lost wages and medical costs.
The Andersons are represented by attorney Joseph A. Bartholomew of Belleville.
