The family of a St. Clair County man claims an Alton hospital and its doctors are to blame for his death.
The man died when doctors allegedly failed to resuscitate him.
Kristin Hudlin, on behalf of Edward Hudlin's estate, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Alton Memorial Hospital, Dr. Kristen Stabell, Dr. Erik Stabell and Alton Multispecialists LTD on Dec. 20 in Madison County Circuit Court.
In November 2009, according to the complaint, Edward Hudlin was a patient of Alton Memorial Hospital and under the care of Drs. Kristen and Erik Stabell. When Hudlin took a turn for the worse the doctors allegedly failed to resuscitate him, claiming the patient requested a "Do Not Resuscitate" status. However, the Hudlin family says there is no signed documentation showing the 68-year-old patient ever made that request.
Kristin Hudlin, as special administrator of Edward Hudlin's estate, is contends the hospital and doctors were negligence and caused Edward's wrongful death. She is asking for more than $200,000 in damages and court costs.
