Mercury strikes Cadillac on Route 15, suit claims

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims collided with her vehicle, forcing her to strike a guard rail.

Laura Goetting claims she was driving a Cadillac west on Illinois Route 15 when defendant Brent Fry, who was also driving west, moved his Mercury from the left lane to the right lane, striking Goetting's vehicle and pushing it into a guard rail.

Because of the collision, Goetting was permanently injured, experienced great pain and suffering and incurred substantial medical costs, according to the complaint filed Nov. 16 in Jefferson County District Court.

Fry negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed, moved to the left when such a move could not safely be made and failed to drive in a single lane, the suit states.

In her complaint, Goetting is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus
costs.

She will be represented by Sam C. Mitchell and Associates in West Frankfort.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-598.
