Plaintiff seeks to amend suit to include defendant's estate in Pink Slip shooting suit

The plaintiff in a suit filed against the Pink Slip bar on Brooklyn over a shooting has been granted leave to amend his complaint.

Plaintiff Amos Blanchard is seeking to change his complaint to include the estate of Madison Garrett in place of Garrett as a defendant because he died in September.

Blanchard is seeking damages in excess of $150,000 because he claims Garrett's club, the Pink Slip Exotic Bar, allowed a man to bring a gun inside and that man later used the gun to shoot Blanchard.

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Lloyd Cueto gave Blanchard 21 days to amend his complaint in an order signed Nov. 10.

According to his complaint, Blanchard was visiting the Pink Slip in August 2009.

During his visit, he claims Michael Mccallum was able to bring a gun into the club because the bar's staff did not properly screen him or maintain metal detectors.

The suit claims that Mccallum became intoxicated and eventually shot Blanchard.

Blanchard claims he suffered pain, permanent disability and other damages due to the incident.

B. Jay Dowling represents Blanchard.

Jarrod Beasley represents the defendants. Those defendants are currently the bar, Medora Garrett and the deceased Madison Garrett Sr.

The case is St. Clair case number 10-L-407.
