Bicyclist struck near McDonald's in Shiloh sues

Nearly four months after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike, a Shiloh man seeks more than $50,000 for his injuries.

Sydney T. Mulder filed a lawsuit Oct. 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Allyssa J. Blasdel.

Mulder claims he rode his bike north on Greenmount Road in Shiloh toward oncoming traffic on June 14 when Blasdel struck him as she exited a McDonald's parking lot.

Because of the accident, Mulder suffered severe injury and pain, lost his enjoyment of life and experienced pain and disability, according to the complaint.

Mulder blames Blasdel for causing his injuries, saying she negligently failed to control her vehicle, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to exercise reasonable care and failed to yield to pedestrians or bicyclists.

In his complaint, Mulder seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just.

Jarrod P. Beasley of The Kuehn Law Firm in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-537.
