A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims failed to keep control of his vehicle, causing a collision.
Adam J. Sylvia claims he was driving a 2006 Honda Civic east in the 7500 block of Marine Road, about 300 feet west of its intersection with Ridgeview Road in Edwardsville, on Oct. 23, 2008, when the accident occurred.
Defendant Edward S. Karpowicz, who was driving a 1994 Dodge Dakota in the same direction, struck Sylvia, causing Sylvia's injuries, great physical pain and mental anguish and to be hindered and prevented from his usual duties and affairs, according to the complaint filed Oct. 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, Sylvia incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Karpowicz negligently failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Sylvia is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
