A woman claims she sustained injuries to her legs, knees and back after falling on a clear substance in a bathroom at the Casino Queen in East St. Louis.
Alice Dawson filed a lawsuit July 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, claiming she walked in the bathroom by the VIP room when she slipped on a clear substance that had accumulated on the floor on May 19.
In addition to her injuries, Dawson became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; incurred medical costs; and suffered disability; experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint.
She blames the casino for causing her injuries, saying it negligently failed to maintain its premises in a safe condition, failed to have a safe procedure for cleaning spilled substances and failed to provide a safe place for Dawson to walk. In addition, it allowed to premises to remain in an unsafe condition, failed to inspect the premises, failed to warn her of a dangerous condition and failed to place warning signs near the spill, the suit states.
In her complaint, Dawson seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
