A Madison County man has filed suit against the bars where he says a driver became intoxicated, then dragged the man across the road with his vehicle.
Christopher G. Hipsher claims Jared Boisseau drank intoxicating liquors defendant bars Brew Haus and Big Daddy's Edwardsville provided him on July 25, 2009, and into the early morning hours of July 26, 2009. The liquors allegedly caused Bouisseau to become intoxicated, which eventually led to Hipsher's injuries, according to the complaint filed July 23 in Madison County Circuit Court.
"That on or about July 26, 2009, Jared Boisseau violently operated his motor vehicle, in which Plaintiff, Christopher G. Hipsher, was caused to be dragged along the roadway," the suit states.
Because of the incident, Hipsher sustained injuries to his left shoulder and right ankle and suffered multiple abrasions to his body, the complaint says. In addition, he claims he experienced pain, suffering, disability permanent disfigurement; incurred substantial medical costs; and lost wages. He also lost his earning capacity and suffered a diminished capacity to enjoy life, according to the complaint.
At the time of the incident, Hipsher had a four-year-old daughter who he can no longer support, the suit states.
In addition to the two bars, Hipsher names Big Daddy's owners Steven Siebert, Timothy Bauer and James Sinovic Jr. as defendants.
In his four-count complaint, Hipsher is seeking a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
He will be represented by D. Jeffrey Ezra and Shaun M. Lieser of Ezra and Associates in Collinsville.
