A woman has filed suit against a Pontoon Beach race track and its owner, alleging that an uneven stairway caused her to sustain injuries to her left leg and a fractured right leg.
Vicki Detchman claims she visited defendant G&G Motorsports doing business as Tri-City Speedway on July 18, 2008, at about 11 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Although Detchman does not specify how her injuries occurred, she does lay the blame on Tri-City and its owners -- defendants G. Kevin Gundaker, Gordan Gundaker Jr. and Gundaker Enterprises -- saying they failed to provide safe access and stairs to and from the bleachers. In addition, the defendants negligently failed to inspect the premises for a hazardous condition, failed to warn of a hazardous condition and failed to remove or repair a hazardous condition that had been allowed to deteriorate, the suit states.
The stairs leading to the bleachers were uneven and inconsistent in light, the complaint says.
Because of her injuries, Detchman claims she incurred medical costs, suffered disability, lost her normal life and experienced pain and suffering.
In her four-count complaint, Detchman is seeking a judgment of more than $200,000, plus cots.
Eric M. Rhein of Belleville will be representing her.
