Trial opens in bus head bump case

By Amelia Flood | May 10, 2010

The trial of a suit over a head bump opened Monday.

Jury selection lasted into Monday afternoon.

Plaintiff Richard Dermott is suing the Agency for Community Transit (ACT) for damages in excess of $50,000.

Dermott claims the driver of a bus leased to ACT by Madison County Transit drove too fast over a bump in Granite City in three years ago.

He originally sued Madison County Transit. ACT was substituted for that defendant in April 2009.

Madison County Circuit David Hylla presides.

The trial will resume Tuesday.

Dermott is represented by Richard Reed of Belleville.

The defendant is represented by Donald Ohl of Edwardsville.

The case is Madison case number 08-L-525.
