A woman says she sustained permanent injuries after falling in a casino parking lot.
Carolyn J. Shive filed a lawsuit April 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Gaming Company doing business as Argosy Casino Alton, Barnhart Contracting and Control Line.
Shive claims she visited Argosy Casino and was leaving on Oct. 10, 2009, when she slipped and fell on wet paint in the parking lot.
In addition to her injuries, Shive became hindered and prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs, suffered great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs, lost income and sustained disability, according to the complaint.
She blames the defendants for causing her fall, saying they improperly managed the premises, allowed a slick substance on the parking lot, failed to properly and adequately erect barriers around the wet paint, failed to make a reasonable inspection of the parking lot, failed to warn her of the parking lot's dangerous conditions and failed to rope off the area with the wet paint.
In her three-count suit, Shive is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.
