The mother of a minor girl claims her daughter received third-degree burns to her scalp after a hairdresser allowed a coloring agent to remain on her hair too long.
Tracy Bollinger filed a lawsuit April 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Debra Lynn Lowenstein doing business as Deb's Barber and Salon and Lana Liedtke.
Tracy Bollinger alleges her minor daughter, Stephanie Bollinger, visited Deb's Barber and Salon to have her hair highlighted on July 12, 2008.
Liedtke performed the work on Stephanie Bollinger's hair, but allowed the coloring agent to come into contact with her scalp, left the coloring agent on Stephanie Bollinger's head for too long and used the wrong coloring agent or the wrong combination, according to the complaint.
As a result, Stephanie Bollinger suffered permanent and ongoing pain and suffering, third degree burns to her scalp and hair loss, the suit states. In addition, Tracy Bollinger incurred hospital and surgical expenses, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Tracy Bollinger seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just.
