A man has filed suit against the driver who he says struck his vehicle while driving in the Walmart parking lot in Cahokia.

Stephen Sampson claims he was driving in Walmart's parking lot at 1511 Camp Jackson Rd. when defendant Melvin Gulley struck him.

Because of the accident, Sampson sustained severe and serious injuries to his body that are permanently disabling, suffered severe and intense pain, lost wages and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed March 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Gulley negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to maneuver his vehicle to avoid a collision and collided with Sampson, the suit states.

Sampson is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
