Doctors failed to order cardiac workup, suit claims

The administrator of a deceased woman's estate has filed suit against a doctor, a nurse practitioner and the medical facilities he blames for her death.

Larry Bechtold claims the 54-year-old Teresa Bechtold died on June 15, 2009, after doctors and nurses failed to order a cardiac workup, including a stress test, on her.

Because of Teresa Bechtold's death, Larry Bechtold lost her services, companionship, comfort, instruction, guidance, counsel, training, love and support, according to the complaint filed March 9 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Larry Bechtold names Dr. Shaping Sun, Take Care Health Systems, GBC Metals, Olin Corporation and Nurse Practitioner Kelly A. Martin as defendants in his suit.

In his five-count suit, Bechtold seeks a judgment of more than $250,000, plus costs.

He will be represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-244.
