Woman punched at Rumor's sues allegedly intoxicated attacker

A woman claims she incurred disability at a Wood River bar after a man allegedly attacked her for no reason.

Dana L. McDonough filed a lawsuit Feb. 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against A&G Front St. Inc. doing business as Rumor's Bar and Grill, Gary Layton and George H. Rhodes.

McDonough claims Rhodes punched, struck and otherwise battered her after he bacame intoxicated at Rumor's on April 15.

Because of the incident, McDonough sustained serious and permanent bodily injury, incurred pain and suffering, lost wages, incurred medical costs and has been unable to pursue her natural pursuits, according to the complaint.

McDonough names Layton, who is the owner of Rumor's, and Rumor's as defendants under the Illinois Dram Shop Act, the suit states.

In her three-count suit, McDonough seeks a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.

Smith, Mendenhall and Selby will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-201.
