A woman has filed suit against the minor driver who she says failed to stop for a red light and struck her vehicle.
Evelyn Lee claims she was driving west on Hollywood Heights Road at its intersection with Route 159 in Caseyville on May 17 when defendant Emily A. Von Hatten, who was driving north on Route 159 at the same intersection, failed to stop for a red light and struck her.
According to the complaint filed Feb. 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Lee was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; suffered injuries to her neck, back, right shoulder, right arm and left hip; incurred medical costs; and suffered disability because of the accident. In addition, she experienced pain and suffering; lost wages and suffered an impaired earning capacity, the suit states.
Von Hatten negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply her brakes, failed to stop at a red light, failed to obey the traffic signal, drove too fast and drove without adequate brakes, the complaint says.
Lee is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She will be represented by John H. Hustava of Collinsville.
