North Belt West accident is subject of suit

A man has filed suit against the driver who he says struck the vehicle in which he was riding.

Jason S. Warren claims he was riding in a 2004 Buick Rendezvous traveling east on North Belt West near its intersection with North 46th Street in Belleville on Jan. 31, 2008, when Linda D. Harris, who was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Pris GT west on the same road, collided with the vehicle in which he was riding.

Because of the accident, Warren suffered severe and permanent injuries, was hindered and prevented from attending to his normal activities and has suffered great pain and anguish, according to the complaint filed Jan. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Harris negligently failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, drove her vehicle without sufficient control, drove too fast, drove without keeping a proper lookout, failed to equip her vehicle with adequate brakes and failed yield the right-of-way, the suit states.

Harris is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Kenneth B. Beljanski of Brown and Brown in Fairview Heights will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-38.
