To the Editor:
I'm supporting Jason Plummer for Lt. Governor in the Feb. 2 Republican primary. I have known Jason for several years and can't say enough about him as a person, businessman or candidate for statewide office.
Having a statewide officeholder from Edwardsville would mean so much to the economic development of the entire Metro East. Jason is a graduate of the University of Illinois, and currently serves as Vice President of Corporate Development in the family business, RP Lumber, which has created more than 1,200 jobs statewide.
He also started some of his own private companies, including one that brought wireless broadband technology to the rural areas of southern Illinois.
Plummer is the only candidate for Lt. Governor to be endorsed by the Illinois Federation for Right to Life, the National Rifle Association, the Illinois State Rifle Association, Tax Accountability and the Eagle Forum.
He has also pledged to not take a paycheck until state unemployment gets back into single digits and the state is able to pay its bills. Jason has said, "The politicians in Springfield should be the last people in line to get a paycheck, not the first."
Jason is currently in a tight race with a state senator from Chicago. I urge you to join me in voting for Jason Plummer for Lt. Governor. Let's elect a downstate candidate for once!
