Granite City pedestrian claims driver made U-turn, struck him

A man has filed suit against the driver who he says struck him while he was standing on a corner.

Robert Foreshee claims he was a pedestrian at the corner of 13th Street and Granite Street in Granite City when defendant Joseph Wallace, who was driving south on Granite Street, made a sudden U-turn in the middle of the intersection and struck Foreshee.

Because of the incident, Foreshee incurred medical costs, lost wages, suffered disfigurement and disability and has been restricted from his usual affairs, according to the complaint filed Dec. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Wallace negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, allowed his vehicle to collide with Foreshee, drove too fast, failed to reduce his speed, failed to control his vehicle and drove in an improper manner, the suit states.

Foreshee is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

George H. Albers III of Roth Evans in Granite City will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1414.
