Route 159 accident is subject of suit

A man claims he sustained neck, back, hip and elbow injuries after a driver struck him.

Douglas J. Huller filed a lawsuit Dec. 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Mildred M. Hooper.

Huller claims he drove south on Illinois Route 159 in Belleville on Jan. 2, 2008, when Hooper, who drove east on Illinois Route 3, struck him at an intersection.

In addition to his injuries, Huller sustained pain and mental anguish, lost large sums of money because of his inability to work and suffered permanent disability and disfigurement, according to the complaint. He also incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Huller blames Hooper for allegedly negligently failing to keep her vehicle under control, for failing to keep a proper lookout, for failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, for driving too fast and for failing to stop before proceeding into an intersection.

Huller seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Gregory M. Skinner of Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-690.
