Woman claims injuries in Washington Park accident

A woman claims she suffered injuries to her neck and back when a driver rear-ended her.

Anika M. Thomas Clark filed a lawsuit Dec. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Faron M. Stanley.

Clark claims she drove west on Bunkum Road at its intersection with Kingshighway in the City of Washington Park on Aug. 7 when Stanley struck the rear of her vehicle.

Because of the accident, Clark became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; received injuries to her cervical, shoulder and lumbar areas; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. In addition, she suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost wages, the suit states.

Clark blames Stanley for failing to keep a proper lookout, for driving in such a manner that he struck the rear of Clark's vehicle, for failing to properly apply his brakes, for driving too fast and for driving too closely to Clark's vehicle.

Clark seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-668.
