A bus driver has filed suit against the woman who he says decided to switch lanes directly in front of him, crashing into his front end.
Leon D. Buehler filed a lawsuit Nov. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Larisha R. Adkins.
Buehler claims he was driving a 2001 Gillig Bus west on Interstate 64 near milepost 6.8 in Canteen on Nov. 24, 2007, at about 6:39 p.m. when Adkins, who was driving a 1988 Plymouth Neon Expresso west on the interstate, attempted to change lanes and collided into the front of Buehler's bus.
Because of the accident, Buehler was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, received injuries to his groin, abdomen, low back and legs and incurred medical costs, the suit states. In addition, he suffered disability, loss of a normal life and loss of wages, the complaint says.
Buehler blames Adkins for failing to keep a proper lookout for other automobiles, for changing lanes without yielding the right-of-way, for driving too fast, for failing to keep her vehicle under proper control, for failing to stop or yield to avoid a collision and for failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision.
Buehler is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
