Woman sues over injuries in Landmark Blvd. accident

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says struck the vehicle in which she was riding as it was attempting to turn left.

Stephanie L. Wills claims she was riding in a vehicle traveling east on Landmarks Boulevard and which was attempting to turn left onto Ridge Street on Sept. 8, 2007. At the same time, defendant Rick R. Healey was driving west on Ridge Street and struck the vehicle in which Wills was riding.

According to the complaint filed Oct. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court, Wills experienced disability and disfigurement, suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings, incurred medical costs and sustained an impaired earning capacity.

Healey negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too closely to the vehicle in which Wills was riding, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to reduce his speed, failed to yield and disobeyed a traffic control device, the suit states.

Wills is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1076.
