A woman says her head, neck and back were injured in a collision after the driver of another vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign.

Lori A. Coleman filed a lawsuit Aug. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Sharon M. Harmon.

Coleman claims she was riding in a vehicle that was traveling north on North Church Street at its intersection with Clay Street in Belleville on March 14, 2008.

Suddenly, Harmon, who was driving west on Clay Street at the same intersection, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the car in which Coleman was riding, according to the complaint.

In addition to her injuries, Coleman says she was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled because of the accident and incurred medical costs. In addition, she suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost money from loss of wages, the suit states.

She blames Harmon for failing to keep a proper lookout, for driving in such a manner where she struck another vehicle, for failing to properly apply her brakes, for driving too fast and for failing to yield the right-of-way.

Coleman is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing her.
