A St. Clair County man has filed suit against the woman who he says rear-ended him when she failed to stop at a stop sign.

Andre Brewster says he was stopped at a stop sign on Caseyville Avenue at its intersection with Northpark Drive on Aug. 18 at about 11:07 p.m. when Lea Sayles, who was driving west on Caseyville, failed to stop or slow down and rammed the front of her car into the back of his.

Because of the accident, Brewster suffered pain to his neck and back and experienced strains and sprains to his thoracic and lumbar spines, according to the complaint filed July 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, Brewster's enjoyment of life has been diminished and he incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.

Sayles negligently failed to keep a careful lookout and failed to stop for a stop sign, the complaint says.

Brewster is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus interest, costs, pre-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

Brian Stokes of The Stokes Law Office in St. Louis will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-361.
