A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says caused her pain and suffering after he rear-ended her.

Laura Warchol claims she was slowing her 2000 Dodge Caravan down for a red stop light at North Greenmount Road on July 13, 2007, at about 2:22 p.m. when Andrew J. Hulten failed to apply the brakes of his 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee and plowed into the back of her car.

As a result of the collision, Warchol suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical expenses and lost income, according to the complaint filed July 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Hulten negligently failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, the suit states.

Warchol is seeking damages of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She is represented by Kurt E. Harris of the Kurt E. Harris Law Firm.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-359.
