The mother of two minor children says she and her children were disabled when a man failed to obey a traffic signal and crashed into them.
Darlene Conners, mother of Kevon Conners and Markevion Conners, filed a lawsuit June 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jared Coss.
Darlene Conners says she was driving on North Illinois Street near its intersection with Corporate Drive in Swansea on Jan. 15. Riding in the car with her were Kevon and Markevion Conners, according to the complaint.
At the same time, Coss was driving on Corporate Drive near the same intersection when he suddenly crashed into the vehicle Darlene Conners was driving, the complaint says.
Because of the accident, Kevon, Markevion and Darlene Conners experienced pain, suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of income and loss of a normal life, the suit states. In addition, they incurred medical expenses and are at an increased risk for future injury, Darlene Conners claims.
Coss negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way and disobeyed a traffic control device, according to the complaint.
Darlene Conners is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.
Daniel K. Juncker of Belleville will be representing her.
