Flat bed ran into Caravan, woman claims in suit

A woman has filed suit against River Bend Contractors, alleging she was severely injured after a large truck pulling a flat bed ran into her van.

Donna L. Keelin says she was driving a Dodge Caravan east on Chain of Rocks Road in Pontoon Beach on Feb. 12 when Jerry L. Zeller, who was driving a large truck west on the same road for River Bend Contractors, crashed into her.

Because of the collision, Keelin experienced an impaired function to her body and nervous system, lost earnings, became responsible for numerous medical bills and experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed June 23 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Zeller failed to keep his vehicle on the right-hand side of the road, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop or swerve to avoid colliding with Keelin's vehicle and drove too fast for the road conditions, the suit states.

Keelin is seeking an unspecified judgment.

Robert C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-664.
