A man who says he was attacked and injured while visiting a Granite City mobile home park is suing the park.
John Hartline claims he was visiting Route 66 Mobile Home Park at 5445 Maryville Road on Aug. 25, 2007, when residents of the premises attacked and beat him without provocation.
As a result of the attack, Hartline suffered severe and permanent injuries to his chest, ribs, head, arms and hands and will be prevented from attending to his usual duties and affairs. He also suffered great pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed June 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Edwards Associates, doing business as Route 66 Mobile Home Park, was negligent by failing to timely contact the police when Hartline was being attacked, by failing to intervene in the attack, by failing to take reasonable actions to protect others from the misconduct of its patrons, by improperly managing the premises and by failing to properly protect those on the premises, the complaint says.
In addition, Edwards Associates negligently failed to remove residents from the premises after it became apparent the residents posed a threat of violence, the suit states.
Hartline is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
