A Madison County man claims he injured his left hip, right knee, ankle and foot after he slipped on a clear substance while shopping at Wal-Mart.
Louis Young filed a lawsuit May 20 in Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart.
Young says he was walking in the Highland Wal-Mart Supercenter on May 26, 2007, when he fell.
In addition to his injuries, Young suffered disability, will be prevented from attending to his usual and ordinary duties and affairs, incurred medical costs and suffered great pain, the complaint says.
Wal-Mart negligently failed to maintain the floor of the store in a reasonably safe condition, allowed a slippery substance to remain on the floor of the store, failed to warn Young of the danger of the substance and failed to install a non-slip surface on the floor, the suit states.
Young is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
Christopher M. Donohoo of The Donohoo Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-515.
