State Bar Law Ed program scheduled June 12 in Grafton

Hot Topics in Animal Law, a continuing legal education program hosted by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), will be held from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at Pere Marquette Lodge and Conference Center, 13653 Lodge Boulevard, in Grafton.

Program topics include an update on equestrian laws and regulations, livestock management, Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) suits, proposed changes to animal cruelty laws, public safety laws, laws regulating reckless owners and potentially dangerous dogs, regulatory issues regarding animals as part of the food supply chain, and ethical issues.

The program, which qualifies for 4.0 hours based on a 60 minute MCLE (Minimum Continuing Legal Education) credit hour, including 1.0 Professional Responsibility MCLE credit hour [subject to approval], is sponsored by the ISBA Animal Law Section.

The cost is $100 for ISBA members and $230 for non-member lawyers and non-lawyers, if received by the ISBA one week prior to the program; thereafter, prices increase by $15 per person.
