Hazelwood, Mo. accident causes injuries, woman claims in suit

Kristina M. Nelson has filed suit against Brenda L. Dale, alleging she was injured after Dale ran a red light.

Nelson was driving east on Elm Grove Drive, approaching its intersection with U.S. Route 67, in Hazelwood, Mo. on April 10 when the incident occurred, according to the complaint filed April 21 in Madison County Circuit Court.

After stopping for a red light, Nelson tried to make a left turn north onto U.S. Route 67 when Dale, who was driving south and who failed to stop for a red light, hit her, the suit states.

Because of the collision, Nelson says she experienced pain and suffering, inconvenience, disability, disfigurement and loss of a normal life. She also lost wages and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.

Dale was negligent by failing to stop for a red light, by driving too fast, by failing to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, by failing to maintain control of her vehicle and by failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, the suit states.

Nelson is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

She is represented by Edward J. Szewczyk of Callis, Papa, Hale, Szewczyk and Danzinger in Granite City.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-402.
