An O'Fallon woman is suing a St. Clair County woman, saying she was injured after a rear-end collision.

Nancy Monroe filed a lawsuit April 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Melanie Phelps.

Monroe says she was stopped at a red light with her vehicle facing south on Schwaegel Road in O'Fallon on Dec. 2 when Phelps, who was driving south on the same road, rear-ended her.

Because of the collision, Monroe says she suffered injury and pain, lost wages, lost her enjoyment of life and experienced pain, suffering and disability.

Phelps failed to obey a traffic control device, failed to reduce her speed, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to exercise reasonable care, according to the complaint.

Monroe is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
