A woman is suing a grocery store over alleged injuries she sustained by an automatic door.

Barbara Kronk filed suit against Aldi on April 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

She says she was entering the store located at 1233 Camp Jackson Rd. in Cahokia on Feb. 25 when a malfunctioning automatic door slammed into her and caused her to fall.

Because of her fall, Kronk says she sustained an injury to her back and a wrist fracture, lost large sums of money because of her inability to pursue her normal occupation and incurred medical bills in excess of $50,000, according to the complaint.

Aldi failed to warn its customers of the malfunctioning door, failed to maintain its entryway door and failed to inspect the door for malfunctions, the suit states.

Kronk is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

Bruce N. Cook and Matthew A. Marison of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-166.
