Head Start sued over auto accident

An Alton woman has filed suit against Riverbend Head Start and Family Services and one of its employees, alleging she was injured after a collision.

Eve E. Roberson says she was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala west on East Broadway in Alton on Dec. 19, when Rebekah Brit, who was driving a 2009 Ford Taurus for Riverbend in a parking lot at 712 East Broadway, pulled out of the parking lot and collided with Roberson.

Because of the collision, Roberson incurred severe injuries, pain and suffering, incurred medical expenses and experienced a diminished earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of a normal life, according to the complaint filed March 31 in Madison County Circuit Court. She also suffered disability, the suit states.

Roberson alleges Brit and Riverbend through Brit were negligent by failing to keep a proper lookout, by failing to keep the vehicle under control and by failing to yield the right-of-way.

In the two-count suit, Roberson is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

She will be represented by Eric J. Carlson of Carlson and Carlson in Edwardsville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-328.
