Dodge Ram driver claims injuries in rear-end collision

A driver of a Dodge Ram truck is suing over injuries he sustained in a rear-end collision.

James P. Leady was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram east on Interstate 270 near mile post 5 in Choteau Township on Sept. 21, 2007, when Daniel M. Krekovich Jr., who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S10 truck behind Leady, struck the rear of Leady's Dodge as Leady was slowing because of traffic congestion, according to the complaint filed March 27 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Leady's neck, back, left shoulder, left arm and body were injured and he incurred medical bills, the suit states. He also claims he has been prevented from attending to his usual duties and affairs.

Krekovich was negligent by driving in a reckless fashion, by failing to exercise ordinary care to avoid a collision, by failing to stop in time to avoid striking the back of Leady's vehicle, by driving too fast for conditions, by failing to keep a proper lookout and by following Leady's vehicle too closely, the suit states.

Leady is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

He is represented by William E. Miller III of Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-318.
