St. Clair mother sues driver over daughter's injuries

A St. Clair County woman has filed suit against another woman on behalf of her minor daughter, alleging her daughter was riding with the woman when she got into an accident.

Tina Womack claims her daughter Maci Broussard was riding in a vehicle Alycia N. Dickey was driving west on Randolph County line about an eighth mile east of Doza Creek Road in Randolph Couny on April 9, 2007.

At the time, Dickey drove her vehicle too fast, causing it to leave the left side of the road, strike an embankment and turn over several times, according to the complaint filed March 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, Broussard sustained severe and permanent injuries, disability and disfigurement and experienced physical and mental anguish, the suit states. Womack claims Broussard also incurred medical costs and has been unable to perform her work and activities as she had in the past.

Dickey was negligent by driving over the speed limit, by failing to keep her vehicle under proper control, by failing to reduce her speed, by driving on the left side of the road, by failing to apply her brakes to prevent her vehicle from leaving the road and by failing to keep her vehicle on the right side of the road, according to the complaint.

In the two-count suit, Womack is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.

She is represented by William P. Gavin of Gavin Law Firm in Swansea.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-158.
