A lawsuit filed in St. Clair County claims an intoxicated driver caused a multi-car collision resulting in injuries.

Michael Aaron claims he was stopped in his 2003 Chevrolet at a red light while traveling east on North Belt West at Frank Scott Parkway in Belleville when Donna Donaby, who was driving her 1996 Ford Escort east on the same road, rear-ended a vehicle two cars behind him.

Donaby's collision resulted in each of the cars behind Aaron rear-ending each other and eventually rear-ending him, according to the complaint filed March 17.

Because of the collision, Aaron suffered bodily injuries and experienced disability and disfigurement and past and future pain and suffering, the suit states.

He also claims he lost income and incurred medical expenses.

Donaby was negligent by driving in excess of the speed limit, by driving at an unreasonable speed, by failing to keep a lookout, by failing to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, by failing to keep her vehicle under control, by driving under the influence of alcohol and by driving with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 0.08, according to the complaint.

She also negligently drove when she knew "she was unfit to do so by reason of her excessive intoxication," failed to avoid a collision and failed to use ordinary care for the safety of others on the road, the suit states.

In the two-count suit, Aaron in seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.
