A Madison County man is asking the court to render judgment in his favor after he claims he was wrongly fired from his job at Global Brass and Copper, Inc.

According to a complaint filed March 2 in Madison County Circuit Court, Mitchell E. Musgrow was fired on July 29 after he notified Global about a fall he sustained while working on July 14.

The fall happened after Musgrow slipped on hydraulic fluid, the suit states.

Musgrow claims he fell into a 6 to 8-foot deep pit and injured his shoulder.

However, Global fired Musgrow "in retaliation for the Plaintiff giving notice of his fall in the pit and potential injury," the suit states.

Because of his termination, Musgrow lost substantial wages and benefits, according to the complaint.

In the three-count suit, Musgrow is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000 and punitive damages in excess of $750,000, plus costs.

Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0189.
