A woman and her mother have filed suit against a Glen Carbon woman and her father, alleging the woman was injured after the Glen Carbon woman struck a power pole.

Molly Carver was a passenger in a vehicle Abby I. Kansal was driving north on Yellow Hammer Crossing on March 3, 2006, when Kansal ran into a power pole, according to the complaint filed Feb. 13 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the accident, Carver suffered injuries that caused her pain and suffering, incurred medical expenses and suffered disability, the suit states.

Carver's mother, Sandy Dodds, became responsible for medical costs associated with the accident, Carver and Dodds claim.

Carver and Dodds allege Abby I. Kansal was negligent by driving her car too fast, by failing to keep her car on the road and by failing to slow, stop or swerve to avoid striking the pole.

Ajay Kansal, Abby I. Kansal's father, negligently allowed her to drive the care and to accept young people as passengers, even though he knew she had dangerous driving propensities, according to the complaint.

In the four-count suit, Carver and Dodds are seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, enough money to cover the costs of Carver's medical expenses, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

They will be represented by Charles W. Chapman of Lakin Chapman in Wood River.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-0128.
