A Belleville woman has filed suit against a Mascoutah woman, claiming she was seriously injured after she was hit by a car.
Lisa R. Jackson claims she was crossing the street at the intersection of West Washington and First Street in Belleville on Nov. 2, 2006, when Clayton Lori J. Clayton hit her, according to a complaint filed Oct. 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
As a result of the incident, Jackson suffered pain, loss of a normal life and loss of income, plus she incurred substantial medical costs, the suit states.
Jackson claims Clayton was negligent because she failed to yield to Jackson, who was in a crosswalk, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove too fast.
Jackson is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
