Alton Memorial Hospital has filed suit against a former patient, alleging breach of contract for failing to pay his medical expenses.

Alton Memorial, represented by Tammy Wool of St. Louis, alleges Steven Ragusa agreed to pay for services rendered but failed to make the promised payments.

Alton Memorial claims they have rendered services for $15,870.69 to Ragusa within the last two years.

"Charges on said accounts are reasonable," the complaint filed Aug. 27 states.

In addition to the balance due, Alton Memorial is also seeking prejudgment interest at five percent per annum until the date of judgment, costs of the suit and attorneys' fees.

The case is awaiting mandatory arbitration.
