Top Metal Buyers sued for man's fall from loading dock

Salvage worker Nelson David Jones claims he sustained permanent disability and disfigurement after falling from a loading dock in East St. Louis nearly two years ago.

Jones, who was employed by Clifton Salvage, was waiting for his truck to be unloaded on the northwest corner of Top Metals Buyers loading dock on May 25, 2006, when large pieces of scrap metal were being thrown in his direction towards a dumpster.

According to the complaint filed April 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Top Metals Buyers was negligent for failing to warn him about the metal being thrown in his direction.

Jones, represented by Brad L. Badgley of Belleville, claims he incurred medical expenses and has lost wages due to his injuries.

He is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages plus costs of the suit.
