Demolition petition filed by city of Troy

The City of Troy filed a petition for demolition of property at 220 Edwwardsville Rd.

According to the complaint filed in Madison County Circuit Court April 24, the property owned by Robert and Ruth Henry is in need of demolition because it is unsafe and dangerous.

Represented by Steven Wigginton of Belleville, Troy claims the building is unfit for human occupancy and has numerous structural defects making it dangerous and unsafe.

According to the petition, the Henrys have failed to present a complete rehabilitation plan to Troy's Building and Zoning Administrator and/or failed to demolish the property.

Troy is seeking an expedited hearing and an order allowing ot to demolish the property and to recover all costs and rehabilitation of the land, including court costs and attorney fees from the owners of the property.
