Casino Queen

Casino Queen patron Audrey Curtis of O'Fallon is seeking in excess of $200,000 for injuries she sustained Aug. 28, 2006, after tripping over a concrete barrier in the casino's parking lot.

Curtis filed suit against the casino and building contractors Clayco, Inc. and Legacy Building Group LLC in St. Clair County Circuit Court April 9.

Among other things, Curtis claims there was a lack of yellow paint in the parking lot and a "misleading design which failed to alert a reasonable person traversing the parking lot as to the obstruction."

She claims the defendants "failed to fix or remediate the lack of visibility of the concrete barrier, confusing paint on the parking lot and/or concrete barrier and/or lack of signs or notification of any kind on or about the parking lot..."

She also claims they "allowed a dangerous condition to exist as part of a pattern of poor maintenance, repair and/or upkeep of the premises, incuding, but not limited to, the lack of visibility, signs and confusing design in and around the concrete barrier."

According to the complaint, Curtis suffered extensive injuries, including, but not limited to, her knees, ribs, neck, back, right shoulder, right ear, legs, head and hip.

Curtis is represented by D. Jeffrey Ezra of Ezra and Associates in Collinsville.
