Saint Anthony's named in wrongful death complaint

By Steve Gonzalez | Jan 10, 2008

The estate of Ralph Shaw filed a wrongful death suit against Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton claiming cervicospinal blunt trauma caused Snow's death.

According to the complaint filed in Madison County Circuit Court Jan 8, Shaw was treated at Saint Anthony's for conditions of "ill-being" on July 30, 2006.

The estate alleges during Shaw's treatment, the hospital failed to use the skill and care of accepted standards when it negligently and carelessly failed to x-ray Shaw, failed to properly monitor Shaw and failed to use the skill and care ordinarily used by a well-qualified medical facility.

According to the estate, Snow's death has resulted in pecuniary damages, loss of companionship and funeral and burial expenses to his next of kin.

Represented by Lance Mallon of Wood River, Shaw's estate is seeking damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron.
